Aims and scope
Boletín Científico CIOH is an open-access scientific journal that operates under a continuous publication model, issuing two issues per annual volume. Its mission is to evaluate, validate, and disseminate original research articles and literature reviews published in both English and Spanish, with a primary focus on the fields of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Aquatic Sciences, and Oceanography. The journal's main areas of interest include hydrography, physical oceanography, marine environmental protection, integrated coastal zone management, and underwater cultural heritage.
All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process conducted by active researchers and subject-matter experts. The journal serves as an international forum for researchers, university faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as readers interested in the latest scientific advances and scholarly discussions within its scope.
Articles published in Boletín Científico CIOH are made immediately available through open access in both PDF and XML formats. The journal follows the Diamond Open Access publishing model, meaning that authors are not charged any fees at any stage of the publication process (i.e., no article processing charges [APCs]). Publication costs are fully supported by the Colombian Maritime Authority (Dirección General Marítima, DIMAR), an agency of the Ministry of National Defense of Colombia.
The journal publishes all articles under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license.
