About the Journal
The CIOH Scientific Bulletin is an open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal that operates under a continuous publication model, publishing two issues per volume (calendar year). Its mission is to evaluate, validate, and disseminate original research articles and literature reviews in both English and Spanish in the fields of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Aquatic Sciences, and Oceanography. The journal's primary areas of interest include hydrography, physical oceanography, marine environmental protection, integrated coastal zone management, and underwater cultural heritage.
All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process conducted by active researchers and subject-matter experts. The journal serves as an international forum for researchers, university faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and other readers interested in the latest scientific advances and scholarly discussions within its scope.
Articles published in the CIOH Scientific Bulletin are made immediately available under open access in both PDF and XML formats. The journal follows the Diamond Open Access publishing model, meaning that authors are not charged any fees at any stage of the publication process (i.e., no article processing charges [APCs]). Publication is fully supported by the Colombian Maritime Authority (DIMAR), an agency of the Ministry of National Defense of Colombia.
The journal publishes all articles under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license.
