Very few research had been done in order to characterized the tides main components in the colombian Caribbean sea. For many years the IDEAM have gathered the sea level data in Cartagena, Rosario Island and San Andres Island just for statistical purposes.
In this paper the sea level time series had been treated for harmonic analysis using R. Pawlowicz Matlab routines and spectral analysis with the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT).
Using the Courtier criteria the analysis shows that the tides in Cartagena and Rosario Island is mixed mainly diurnal and in San Andres Island is mixed mainly semidiurnal.
