Oceanografía física descriptiva del archipiélago de San Andrés y Providencia, con base en el análisis de los cruceros Océano IV a IX

Se analizan las variaciones espacio-temporales de los parámetros físicos de cuatro cruceros realizados en 1983 y 1984 en la región del archipiélago de San Andrés y Providencia. Se estudian las masas de agua observadas hasta una profundidad máxima de 1000 m encontrándose:
- Agua Superficial del Caribe en los primeros 75 m,
- Agua Subtopical Intermedia (A. S. I.) entre los 75 y 150 m,
- Agua Central del Atlántico Tropical (A. C. A. T.) entre los 180 y 360 m,
- Agua Intermedia Subantártica (A. I. S.) a 700 m.
Se hizo un seguimiento de los núcleos de estas masas, lo que permitió observar variaciones espacio-temporales en el perfil de la zona Sureste.
El comportamiento vertical presentado por los parámetros físicos es el típico del Caribe, aunque se obtuvieron temperaturas superficiales ligeramente superiores a las reportadas para el área.
