Nota sobre algunos rasgos geomorfológicos de los Bancos de Salmedina

Geomorphologic characteristics of Salmedina Banks, are described through analysis of the batimetry, georeferencied video transects and multibeam sonar images. The studied area 22has a total area of 10.5 km of which 4 km corresponded to zones 2of coral reef and 0.45 km to fine muds and mudstones of diapiric origin. The Banks are composed of 5 elevations that correspond to: Salmedina, Burbujas, Ygio, Kubina y Ukura. The geomorphology of these formations is determined by the influence of the predominant swell from the north-west, the diapiric activity, very recent in Burbujas Bank, as represented in the apparent presence of craters, deep cracks and gas emanations.Downloads
