In this paper, the space-time distribution of the Ekman transport and pumping in the Colombian Caribbean Basin was analyzed with wind data from the SeaWinds sensor between November 1999 and November 2009. The results indicated the influence of the caribbean low level jet in both variables, which described a seasonal cycle. The average pumping was positive near the Colombian coast while water sinking was observed in the northern section of the basin. Regarding Ekman transport, its dominant direction was towards the north and northwest, and its maximum relative magnitude wasregistered on the eastern side of the basin.Downloads
