Abstract

Science is social, and like any human activity, it is not exempt from the influence of the culture that surrounds the scientists who carry it out. Those who execute it are part of society and the objectives are always to solve a problem or need in the community. To achieve this, the construction of knowledge is required, but not only scientific knowledge, but all the knowledge produced by other actors in the community. With the completion of this project, a group of students from the National University of Colombia included high school students from San Andrés Island in the final stage of the cycle of knowledge about marine-coastal ecosystems: learning and sharing (in two-way) through the creation of maps as a visual communication language.
