The set of chlorophyll-a data obtained by the moderate resolution image radiospectometer (MODIS) produced by three algorithms, (HPLC empiric, the OC3M and semi-analytical) has been compared to the data taken in situ at the Salmedina banks at the Colombian Caribbean. All algorithms over-estimate the chlorophyll-a in situ, with an error over 35%. The estimate of the closest chlorophyll concentration compared to the data in situ it, were produce by a semi-analytic al algorithm with a medium quadratic error RMS of 39%. These results ind semi-analytical analysis is then best approximation, but it is necessary a local bio-optical algorithm accuracy of the chlorophyll- a with measurements of the MODIS in the areaDownloads
