This paper presents the results of aplication of a methodic for the quality control of the oceanographic information, based an opinion on the superposition of T/S curves and in the statistical characteristics of the fields.
The processed information was collected along the oceanographic cruise Oceano V, that was carried out on board of the ARC "Providencia" in August 1981 in (he Colombian Caribbean.
The methodic was applied under the consultant ship of scientific partners of the Governmental Oceanologic Institute of Odesa, Ucrania, with the cooperation of the Centro de Investigaciones Oceanográficas e Hidrográficas.
As complement, the methodic of optimum interpolation that allows to recover and correct the information in the desired points with the minimum of error is described, and a quantitative analysis of the water masses in the Colombian caribbean is carried out, that has allowed to define the characteristics of the water masses in the area.
